Models for a Civilization VI mod adding al-Andalus (Islamic Iberia) into the game. Some assets from Firaxis are used in the model. These include the trees and shrubs; the textures of the grey stone foundation of the palace; and the roof and hedgerow textures.

Screenshots taken in Civilization VI. Stills rendered in UE5.

The roof tiles in the top left and the hedge in the bottom right are not my work and are from existing assets shared with modders by Firaxis.

Two baked lighting maps, a lighting source map, and a baked colour map were composited in Substance Designer to make the emissive map.

Went a bit overkill with the lion fountain and made the high poly version of the models in Houdini and Nomad.

I likely wouldn’t have done this in a studio setting: but I honestly liked the excuse to use the extra programs for this hobby project.

I drew from various alcazars and alcazabas in Spain, as well as some Morrocan architecture. For instance, the palace was influenced greatly after the Partal Palace in Granada. The Alcázar itself is drawn from a combination of the Alhambra and the Alcazar of Seville.
